Campsites in Austria July and August 2009

Alpencamp
Kotschach Mauthen, Italian/Slovenian border
Lovely camp site with friendly staff, very good facilities and good views of the mountains. A flat site with some shade. Wi fi from the pitch for 3 Euro/hour. Supermarket nearby and cycle routes.

Camping Central
Graz
Excellent site for visiting this attractive city, with good bus links. Free use of large swimming pool too. Flat site with very good facilities and wi fi at 2 Euro/day.

Storchencamp
Rust
Near the Hungarian border and good cycling around the lake from the site. The village of Rust is very pleasant. Facilities fine with lots of hot water. Mostly long-term campers, with some touring pitches.

Aktiv Camping Neue Donau
Vienna
Facilities plentiful and fine. Some luxury, more private pitches. Flat site, with limited shade. Good public transport in to Vienna.

Campingplatz Grein
Grein Donau
Nice position by the river and a pleasant town. A level site with new facilities which were good, although the hot water was hit and miss.

Camping Wieshof
St Johann im Pongau
A terraced, grassy site with lovely views over the town and mountains. Free wi fi available all over the site and fantastic facilities, always clean and with roomy showers for 1 Euro. Bread available in the morning. So many things to do in the area, we stayed for ages.

Camping Stigger
Vols, near Innsbruck
A crowded and over-priced site in August. 33 Euro for poor facilities and no space for an awning.

Campingplatz Imst West
Imst, west of Innsbruck
Site in a lovely position on the edge of the town with supermarkets nearby. Spacious pitches, good facilities and friendly staff. Lots of walking and cycling opportunities.
